A-Z GUIDE: HUGGIES & HOOPS

Everyone is unique, every piercing is unique. We don’t believe in a "one size fits all". That is why we offer a range of gauges and inner diameters, so you’re sure to find the perfect fit.

Please Note – This is a standard guideline for reference only. Finding the perfect size from home can be a trial and error process. If you aren’t sure of the size you need, we recommend visiting a professional piercer for advice, who can check out your piercing in person.

GAUGE (G)

Gauge (G) is used to describe the thickness of the earring posts.

20G (0.8mm) - the thickness you’ll find on traditional butterfly back earrings

18G (1.0mm) - slightly thicker, the 18G bar can be used for both lobe and cartilage piercings

16G (1.2mm) - a thicker post, the 16G bar is usually used for cartilage piercings

Though the standard gauge for different piercing locations can be seen in the guideline above, it can depend on a number of other things. For example whether you were pierced with a needle or gun and if your hole has shrunk...etc.
